Forged in the dimly-lit, beer-soaked bowels of Burlington, VT’s basement scene, Doctor Rick was put here for one reason: to help you get your fix. Brennan Kensey (Bass, Vocals) and Zach Santarsiero (Drums, Vocals) consistently hold down an infectiously groovy rhythm section, casually sprinkling in improvised solos while constantly pushing the energy higher. Patrick Callahan (Rhythm Guitar, Lead Vocals) keeps listeners on track with catchy, super-relatable lyrics that will be stuck in your head days after a show, all while trading licks with the Big Bad Booty Daddy himself, (E)Rick Soszynski (Lead Guitar), who shreds through solos and melodies with effortless levity.
Starting out as UVM students in 2015, Doctor Rick has been honing their craft up in VT for 2 years now, playing frequently at places like Nectar’s and Higher Ground. These guys work hard to combine everyone’s favorite aspects of blues rock, funk, and bluegrass into a cocktail delivered with surgical precision, straight to the brain. Now operating on a stage near you, dishing out blistering dueling guitar riffs backed by bombastic drum fills and tone-perfect bass bombs, the Doctor has a fix for whatever ails you. Need your face melted? Come on down. Wanna dance yourself outta your shoes? Stop by. These guys are just what the Doctor ordered. No appointment necessary.
Since their 2011 start as Skidmore College’s hottest band since Ratatat, Los Elk has quickly evolved from an up and coming college band into a full blown musical force. Relocating to Boston, the band quickly made waves as the city’s newest must-see act.
Mixing Indie-Rock with flares of Funk and RnB, Los Elk’s razor sharp sound and high energy performance drew attention, and it wasn’t long before they were playing packed bills The band’s fresh approach to songwriting, which brings musical edge to creative pop numbers, has even landed them in Spotify’s U.S Viral 50 chart. From sold out clubs and festival appearances, to backyard acoustic gigs in the heart of Boston, Los Elk is a dynamic four piece that can currently be found tearing up the east coast with their motley crew of die hard fans and friends.
2% is the musical stylings of Brian Devane, Eric Smith, Harrison Kent, and Ryan Darling, 4 dedicated UVM students with a vision. That vision consists of providing the local music faithful with a heavy dose of that 2% milk. 2% cannot be constrained to one single genre besides “jamz” (not necessarily to be mistaken for “jam,” although we also jam). 2% often employs the use of the three part harmony, and combined with Eric “Bootsy Collins” Smith’s silky smooth finger slappin’ goodness on bass, a combination of sounds is created which cannot be ignored. 2% has been taking the UVM campus by storm since it was formed in February 2016.
