Named by Strangers
Since 2001 Named By Strangers has become one of Burlington Vermont’s most respected original live music acts. The band has built a reputation for their solid songwriting and ability to draw large energetic crowds. The band’s debut release “Gone” earned NBS a place in the March/April 2004 edition of Relix Magazine as a band “on the verge” as well as a mention in the Burlington publication Seven Days “Top Ten Albums of 2004”. NBS sold over four thousand copies of Gone in it’s first year and the debut release was added to over 100 radio stations nationwide..
Thanks to their heartfelt roots in the Eastern ski and snowboard scene Named By Strangers is the subject of a feature story in the March 2006 issue of Skiing Magazine. The feature was brought about by NBS consistanly playing many of the East’s most recognized ski venues. In Skiing Magazine’s October 2004 issue Named By Strangers was touted a “take off your top good time” and made one of the Magazine’s “Hot Pics” for that issue.
Named By Strangers had a spot on RSN television’s Lounge series playing nationwide in 2004-2005 winter, and was used for opening credits on Backcountry Magazines winter televised series premiering on NESN.
The band has shared the stage with such acts as Deep Fried (members of Government Mule, the Meters, and the Neville Brothers), Max Creek, Railroad Earth, Ulu, Raq, Jen Durkin and the Bomb Squad, Spookie Daly Pride, and Glock and Patchen of Strangefolk. Additionally, Named By Strangers had the opportunity to open for Colonel Bruce Hampton and the Codetalkers with special guests Derek Trucks (Allman Brothers) and Susan Tedeschi in 2004 at Tobacco Road in NYC.
They love music and the industry – especially the people they meet along the way. Always eager to meet new bands, play new venues, and see new faces, it is the sincerest wish of the group that you enjoy the music and express interest in the band. Beyond that I of course thank you for your time and consideration. Please feel free to contact the band for any or no reason, and happy listening!
