Formed from the swirl and stellar dust of earlier psychedelic rock explosions, Carinae are aptly named for an unstable star that somehow survived a massive explosion. Here on Earth, Carinae also survived a tornado — a twister that swept through western Massachusetts in February 2017 and toppled a tree on to the band’s group home. No one was injured, but the house and its contents were demolished.
Carinae can be enigmatic, bombastic, thoughtful and eerily calming all in the same breath. The music made by this collective of star children has an airy beauty that is distinctively indie in character, but it’s also immersive and deeply rhythmic. Carinae are the multiverse under a groove and songs on the upcoming album such as “Someday” and “Empty Headed Animal”, have a transporting effect. – Freddie Zandt / PureHoney Magazine
Clever Girls is a band formed in and based out of Burlington, Vermont. Robert Slater’s deft ability to interpret rhythm alongside bassist, Tobias Sullivan are invaluable, while Diane Jean’s soulful voice and raw, personal songwriting abilities combined with Holt’s effortless guitar work have created a recipe for what Redline Roots have called a “delicate balance” between soft and vulnerable, or a rock and roll raucous. On March 7th, 2017, they released their debut EP which you can stream exclusively on Bandcamp. The record has been described as heartbreaking; a “grungy collection of attitude and emotion that hits hard…but hits so damn good.
The Bubs are a 10-piece trash kitten orchestra in white jumpsuits and exploding through life with a badass garage-rock sound and a heart like an enormous beating sun.
