Barreling out of the northern woods like a grizzled bear on speed, Lucid, the hardest working band in the North Country (Upstate NY and VT), careens across the musical spectrum as a V8 blend of genres emerge- from jazz to rock, honky-tonk blues to reggae.
The central core of Lucid has been evolving together for nearly a decade, with just a few line-up changes, the most recent being the addition of Josh West on the drums. Josh is joined by Lowell Wurster (percussion, harp and vocals), Kevin Sabourin (guitar and vocals), Jamie Armstrong (saxophones, clarinet and vocals), Chris Shacklett (bass, trombone and vocals), and Andrew Dellar (keyboards, accordion and vocals).
Lucid shows no sign of stopping. Weathering such band-crushing events as line-up changes, and the most recent loss of their well-known tour bus “Lucy,” they continue to perform, they continue to produce new hits, and continue to grow into a brotherhood not seen in most other bands.
Lucid’s travels continue to take the band farther, their territory expanding with each weekend. Growing outward from their Adirondack home base, Lucid can be regularly seen all over the Northeast; from Rhode Island and Connecticut, to Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Vermont, they keep fans moving and shaking and eager for more. The Lucid bus has ventured all the way down the East Coast to Florida and back and is looking forward to upcoming tours that will take them West.
“Living in a ski town, one constantly hears the adage, ‘if you like it now, you should have been here 10 years ago, before all these people showed up’,” said Garret K. Woodward (Roving Festival Writer/State of Mind Music Magazine). “The funny thing is, in 10 years, I’ll probably be saying the same thing about Lucid and the unforgettable presence they create onstage and out of your speakers.”
