The Southern Belles
Playing a mix of funky southern psychedelic Rock & Roll, the Belles have been together the past 4 years, performing hundreds of shows and festivals. The band consists of Adrian Ciucci (guitar/vocals), Tommy Booker (keys/vocals), Raphael Katchinoff (drums/vocals) and Andrew Carper (bass/vocals). With their new album coming out in July 2015, the band is bringing their infectious live show to venues across the country, making people dance from coast to coast. Their songs are both fun and moving, as their lyrical stories evoke familiar emotions with each chorus and their musical journeys lend the perfect support.
Since first getting together in 2011 and forming officially 1 year later, the band has already released one successful full-length album, “Sharp as a Knife,” which featured crowd-favorites “Cadillac Dessert” and “Jet Trails.” Their sophomore release, “Close to Sunrise,” is set to come out July 2015, and the first single “Getaway,” which has already been released with a video, can be heard on Soundcloud, Youtube, or thesouthernbellesmusic.com. The band can be found all over the country during summer 2015 and at festivals like the Mad Tea Party Jam, Floyd Fest, Hop Jam, Mantrabash, and more.
“RICHMOND, VA.’S THE SOUTHERN BELLES CORRAL ELEMENTS OF JAZZ, ROCK, FUNK AND COUNTRY INTO AN ELASTIC, GROOVE-CENTRIC AMALGAMATION OF PSYCHEDELIA AND TWANG…”
– SEVEN DAYS // BURLINGTON, VT
The Grift is an independent band from Burlington, VT who writes and performs an eclectic array of original music. Stylistically, they’re somewhere between an electrified Guster and New Order (sans the British accent) and Dave Matthews Band: their style is pop-rock with literate lyrics and vocal harmonies, and it really grooves. These guys have serious musical and songwriting chops – Bassist/vocalist Peter Day won a recent Vermont-wide songwriter contest, and guitarist/vocalist Clint Bierman co-wrote “I’m On My Way” for the Shrek 2 soundtrack. Drummer Jeff Vallone (classically trained, no less, with at least one symphony under his belt) was The Grift’s original bass player, then turntable-ist, and now drummer. The songs spring to life when the vocal harmonies of Bierman and Day meet the musical muscle of a road-tested touring band. Mix a deep love for the craft of songwriting with the rock-solid rhythm section of Vallone on drums and Day on bass with Bierman’s masterful guitar playing, and you get the strange, eclectic, dynamic brew that is Grift music.
